"Adventures in Dino-sitting"

Films: Baby-Secret of the Lost Legend (1985)

Alias: Baby

Type: Ancient

Location: Jungle

Height/Weight: That of a medium-sized ship.

Affiliation: Good

Summary: In the darkest jungles, it isn't always cannibals and sudden death. The thrill of discovery is always out there, yet we must always respect what we find in these uncharted areas. Try telling that to the wiseacres who almost ruined the lives of the last sauropods on Earth.

History: Legend has it that in the deepest parts of South Africa, there is the Mokele-Mbembe, a titan sighted by natives and described in a way that resembles the extinct sauropods. Alas, there were indeed dinosaurs, a whole family of them in fact. But greed took over, and while the daddy was shot and killed, the mother was tranquilized and taken hostage. Now a beleaguered married couple has to protect the remaining baby and reunite it with its parent.

Notable Kills: See Final Fate.

Final Fate: With the help of the local natives, the good guys thwart the avarice of their rivals, and the chief idiot is pulverized and killed by the angry mother. Soon, she and her baby head back into the jungle, hopefully never to encounter humans again.

Powers/Abilities: None

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 1.5-Admittingly, their faces can get a bit creepy in an uncanny valley sort of way, and it's never wise to piss off a mom bigger than you, but these creatures mean no harm. Baby in particular is essentially a puppy in a dino's body when it comes to his personality. These are definitely one of the more benign dinos you'll see on this site.

Trivia: -Mokele-Mbembe, the name being Lingala for "he who stops the flow of rivers", is a cryptid sighted in the Congo River, and is almost always described as a sauropod (sometimes even with poisonous meat). Unfortunately, this fascinating prospect was mainly used as an excuse for creationists to discredit evolution. One has to pity this poor creature, should it have ever existed.

-There are a number of sauropods that have been discovered in Africa that could be Mokele-Mbembe's most likely identity. A good example would be Dicraeosaurus, a small spine-backed sauropod uncovered in Tanzania.

He just turned 5, idiot. He was born a long time ago.
They thought this was a family film, but so was Bambi and bullets still were shot there.
Does it make you feel bigger to pull the trigger now?
